GirlfriendsCafe Happenings - New Features

As GirlfriendsCafe.com approaches its second anniversary, we are happy to add a new feature to better serve our members - Member Groups.

As GirlfriendsCafe has grown from an idea to a thriving social network with over 25,000 members throughout the United States and Canada, we have realized that our members wish to form local chapters and small interest centered groups with fellow members. To satisfy this need, we have added "Member Groups" to our site. In this section, members can form a targeted group. The target can be a geographic locale, hobby or interest.

Be sure to check out this exciting new feature on your next visit to GirlfriendsCafe. Not a member? Membership is free and is open to all women in the United States and Canada.

Healthy, Natural Ways to Look 10 Years Younger!

You don't have to go under the knife or spend money on botox treatments in order to look ten years younger. Instead, make a few lifestyle changes and start treating yourself with a little TLC and you will be amazed at the results. Things such as sleep, diet, exercise and more play a huge role in your appearance.
Getting a good night's sleep is a sure-fire way to not only look younger, but to feel great as well. This is because while you sleep, cells go through a repair process and your body releases the hormone melatonin. This hormone has very positive effects on the skin. The result is radiant and youthful looking skin, fewer lines and less puffiness around the eyes. So do yourself a favor and get your z’s.

Be sure to eat a balanced diet, including lots of fresh fruit and vegetables. Not only will this regimen help you to maintain a healthy weight, the vitamins and anti-oxidants in the fruit and veggies nourish your skin and hair. Having healthy skin and shiny hair is a definite recipe for a more youthful look.

Relaxing in a Tub the Cheap Way!

Why not use your tub time to indulge yourself even more? You deserve!

There is little that holds more appeal than a long, relaxing soak in a tub filled to the brim with hot water and maybe even bubbles. Why not use your tub time to indulge yourself even more? Let's set the stage.
As you lower yourself into the water, quiet, soothing music plays quietly in the background. The lights are dimmed and there's a scented candle or two burning. You have a cup of your favorite beverage within easy reach. A huge fluffy towel is set aside just for you. Lean back and rest your head on your bath pillow.

You're probably thinking, it doesn't get any better than this. Well, think again because it does. This "me time" can be more than just soothing and relaxing. So far, you've taken care of the atmosphere and mentally you're right into it. You deserve this. In fact, you absolutely love this.

Frugal Craft Ideas for Children!

Crafts and Children

On a weekend or just a rainy afternoon, kids get bored easily. We often reach for the car keys and our wallet to find ways to satisfy them. Instead of doing that, reach for a few supplies and show them how to make some crafts that won’t cause you to burn unnecessary gas or spend money.

Entertaining a kid is easier than you may think. If you know the types of things they like, you are one step ahead of the game. Younger kids enjoy ripping things to pieces. Their little hands find joy in destruction. When the wrecking ball is over, they are still delighted laughing about what they have accomplished. For them, something durable is in order.

One frugal craft that can stand up to the beating (at least for a little while) is to create a town or village for their dolls, action figures, or stuffed animals.

"A Distinctive Style " Digital Magazine

Link: http://www.adistinctivestyle.com

If the current issue of A Distinctive Style looks like just other “Fashion Feature” magazine, take a closer look. Besides offering the cream-of-the-crop in eco-fashion, the January issue cover is graced by the winner of Britain’s Missing Top Model, Kelly Knox. Her story offers inspiration and a good dose of a reality check to those who ever thought they couldn’t accomplish their dreams.

Be prepared to re-think eco fashion–Gone are the days of rusty looking sandals and dresses that look like Burlap sacks, the world of eco-friendly fashion has kicked it up about a hundred notches! Designers like Anne Fontaine show off their new collection, which packs a trendy punch and puts a new twist on the traditional cotton shirt. And check out jewelry designer, Keren Peled to find out how she went from corporate life to designing jewelry for Alicia Keys, Vivica Fox, Jill Scott and countless Miss Universe.
This issue also features designer and trendsetter Lori Seliger, who’s given the 80’s legwarmer a shaggy new and funky look with her Bootswalla line, which has become a wardrobe “must-have” favorite for celebrities such as Beyoncé, Cher, Lenny Kravitz and Jenny McCarthy. There’s also an abundance of cuteness with the whimsical Twirls and Twigs organic children’s wear collection on pages 40-41. And for those who like to finish their look with luxurious perfumes, take a dive into the world of Mosaic Aromatherapy for a mystically sensuous experience.

And let’s not forget that A Distinctive Style has become a hub for art lovers. This issue offers the soulful art expressions of Vickie Bell-Jones, and captivating glass artist Jay MacDonell. Perhaps the best part of this magazine is the interactive feature that allows you to take a tour into a virtual world of art and fashion. It’s not like you’re reading just another magazine… you are actually “at one” with the magazine, experiencing a magical world of interactive adventures with every turn of page!

What Would You Do If You Ran the World?

Link: http://www.whatwouldyoudoifyourantheworld.com/

What Would You Do If You Ran the World? That’s a question Shelly Rachanow thought a lot about ever since she posed it in her first book, If Women Ran the World, Sh*t Would Get Done. Since that book’s release, so many women have shared with Shelly ideas for making the world a better place, ideas of things we can do for ourselves, our loved ones, our community, and the world. Time after time Shelly thought, “If these women ran the world, just imagine what would get done!”

What Would You Do If YOU Ran the World? is the culmination of brave, beautiful, brilliant, creative, and totally doable ideas that women have shared, complemented by inspiring quotes from famous women and action lists like Ten Things You Can Start Doing Now.

Shelly's warm and encouraging voice motivates readers to join other amazing women who are kicking serious butt for the good of all, like a teenage girl and CNN hero, kids in Zimbabwe saving their part of the planet, and a busy mom who is not too busy to work every day to help impoverished families live better lives. From learning to listen to your own guiding voice to galvanizing the women in your life, from getting involved in your own community to reaching clear across the world, What Would You Do If YOU Ran the World? is filled with ways we can all live a satisfying life of inspiration in action.

As Anne Frank once said,

“How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.”

Be sure to stop by your local bookstore to pick up a copy.

We, at GirlfriendsCafe.com, are proud to count the author, Shelly Rachanow, among our members and high recommend that this is a book that you should not miss!
